- For those of you who are new to my posts and may be unaware, Bonnie had to undergo what was supposed to be a routine major procedure to remove a small cancer. Due to a botched surgery and being looked upon as an overly concerned husband and not listened to, at one point I was called into the surgical center and asked for my decision as she “probably wouldn’t survive an emergency operation”. She went through 4 major surgeries in those two years, but we all are astounded at the progress she has made, albeit a long way still to go before we can continue to: Climb Every Mountain.
- As you can see in these pictures, she’s taken some major falls; one in a coffee shop walking 5 feet to a counter that gives me the chills to this day seeing her head bounce off the concrete floor, hitting it twice.
- The other was in our driveway where a great patch of skin had to be re-attached to her arm but a week or so later. Needless to say, I’m besides myself as her gait continues to worsen. Supposedly the physical therapy is supposed to help. But, turning down a telephone visit and insisting her Neurologist in person, really did catch his attention. We should know this Thursday more about the MRIs that he had done.
- (Insert: Well, we met with the Neurologist and he spent a good deal of time with her data. Bottom line, baring another miracle, her hiking days is over. With all that was found wrong, it is difficult to understand how she gets around as well as she does. Still, we will continue to make each and every day count)
- On the bright side, she did the Laughlin River Run with me after these falls and managed both camp and ride a couple of hundred miles with me on the back of our Harley. As I have found a way to attach her walker to the back of the bike, we are actually looking forward to doing Sturgis in August, God willing.
- Wishing you well
